The SAS Environment Manager might display a status of down () for the SAS 9.4 Deployment Agent 1.0 resource, even if the deployment-agent process is running normally. This problem is visible when you select Resources ► Browse in the SAS Environment Manager web console.
The issue is related to this SAS Note if any of the following conditions are true:
Beginning with SAS 9.4M5 (Rev. 940_18w25), when you start the SAS Deployment Agent, a PID file is created automatically, and that filename uses this syntax:
server.short-host-name.pid
Because the naming convention results in a uniquely named PID file, in deployments with a shared SASHOME directory, the PID file is no longer replaced when you subsequently start the SAS Deployment Agent on another node. However, prior to release 9.4M6, the plug-in that is used to discover the SAS Deployment Agent searches for the .pid extension.
Beginning with release 9.4M6, the plug-in that is used to discover the SAS Deployment Agent follows the new server.short-host-name.pid naming convention. The plug-in still supports searching for the original .pid file naming convention. So, this problem is resolved in SAS 9.4M6.
If you have SAS 9.4M6 and you encounter a similar issue, see SAS Note 63144, "SAS® Environment Manager displays a status of down (!) for the SAS® Deployment Agent 1.0 resource at SAS® 9.4M6 (TS1M6)."
Click the Hot Fix tab in this note to access the hot fix for this issue. This hot fix resolves the issue for SAS 9.4M4 (TS1M4) and SAS 9.4M5 (TS1M5).
